Japanese-American Internment documents, 1942.

Collection of documents issued by the Western Defense Command and Fourth Army, relating to the evacuation and relocation of Japanese-American residents in California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Montana. Most of the documents are internal memoranda from the Office Assistant Chief of Staff, covering the period March-December, 1942. The memos outline the administration of the evacuation process, including the procedures to be followed in processing and relocating Japanese-Americans. Also included are twenty-eight printed Civilian Restrictive Orders and four printed Public Proclamations, all issued by J.L. DeWitt, Commanding General, Western Defense Command and Fourth Army.
